Introducing WhatsApp Messaging: invoices and bookings, sent from your own number

Send invoices, booking confirmations, and updates to customers over WhatsApp, from your own WhatsApp number, at no extra cost, alongside email.

Most of your customers already have WhatsApp open more often than their email inbox. Today we're rolling out WhatsApp messaging in Garage Shift, so you can send invoices, booking confirmations, and updates straight to a customer's phone, from your own WhatsApp number, at no extra cost.

Why WhatsApp

Email works, but it isn't always the fastest way to reach someone, and not every customer checks it regularly. WhatsApp is different. It's already on their phone, and a message there tends to get seen in minutes, not days. The usual way to message customers on WhatsApp at any scale is the WhatsApp Business API: a new number, a business account to set up, and a cost per message. We built something simpler. Garage Shift uses WhatsApp exactly the way you already do: your own number, your own WhatsApp app, no new account to register and no per-message charge.

How it works

Wherever Garage Shift already lets you notify a customer, whether that's sending an invoice, a jobsheet, or responding to a booking request, you'll now see a WhatsApp option alongside email. Turn it on for a send and Garage Shift builds the message for you, ready to go.

Choose email, WhatsApp, or both, right where you already send to a customer.

One tap opens WhatsApp with the message pre-filled, and you press Send yourself. That's deliberate: nothing goes out from Garage Shift on its own. It's always your message, sent from your own WhatsApp, in your own words, never an automated bulk text a customer didn't expect.

Every send, not just invoices

WhatsApp works everywhere Garage Shift already notifies a customer: booking confirmations, a suggested alternative time, invoices, and jobsheets, including one with a photo-backed health check attached. The customer gets a clean, branded link straight to their invoice or booking, with your garage's own logo on the preview card rather than a generic one.

No email on file? No problem

Walk-in customers who only leave a mobile number used to be a dead end for sending anything digital. Now, if a customer has no email but does have a mobile number, you can send their invoice or booking confirmation over WhatsApp alone, with no email required.

Nothing sent without a record

Every WhatsApp message you send is logged in your communication history alongside your emails, so you can always see what went to a customer and when, using the same audit trail you already rely on.

WhatsApp is off by default. Turn it on in Settings → Channels, choose which sends offer it, and it's ready the next time you send an invoice or respond to a booking.

WhatsApp messaging is live in your dashboard right now. Turn it on, send your next invoice both ways, and see how much faster the reply comes back.
